Good god.
I was born in the dark ages. When I was a kid, I walked around with patches on one eye to cure my “lazy” eye and specs stuck together with tape. This was before the age of hi index lenses, so the lenses weighed about a pound and a half each. I’m not particularly vain, but these were not politically correct times and I was scarred by this experience. Even so, I would never consider this.
If there was ever an occasion where cost considerations were secondary – surely this is it?

Wrong. These percentages come from FDA clinical trials for LASIK, which means the patients were treated by experienced surgeons who were carefully selected as clinical trial investigators. If you had read the abstract that I cited, you’d know this.
those percents are a total out of millions of people who have had the surgery and most of them were probably done by idiot doctors who didnt have much experience and like kittygf said they probably didnt pay much and got what they paid for.

Have you thought about the facts? The FDA’s website warns you that there is a 5% chance that LASIK can go very wrong, and I believe it’s more like 25-50%. There is no cure if your eyes begin to change…glasses and contacts won’t help you because now you have a “FLAP.” Good luck.

if i have a permanent flap that never heals then there is probably something seriously wrong with me seeing how your eyes are one of the quickest healing parts of your body, and i guess i better play the lottery because i dont think the chances of that are very high. and IF the doctor goes broke or bankrupt, then i go and get glasses, oh man that is so fucking hard to do isnt it, i might have to drive half way across the country to find someone who sells eye glasses.

you are 100% awake when they do this. they use a numbing agent eyedrops, they just make it so you can’t feel a thing except them moving around. NO pain at all. im 13 and i have both eyes done

Just got LASIK a month ago and I am thrilled with the results. Went from 20/800 to 20/20. There are risks with any surgery, but the better your surgeon, the lower the risk.
