Laser Eye Surgery

I had my eyes done not to wear glasses any more. The entire surgery has been taped. This is how it is done on one eye (only half of the movie but you get to see all of how it happens).

    Yuk!

  • TontonZen:

No you have to wait a few hours. At first you are as if you get into a hot and moist room coming from outside where it is freezing. There is fog on your glasses but the image is sharper than without glasses at all. That is how you see right after.
Also the anesthetics and dilating drops make you cannot stand clear light. So you need someone to drive you home anyway when you get out of the clinic. But the same evening you can clearly watch TV.

wow, i am thinking of getting laser surgery when i am older. my dad has done it before and he says it is painless.

i was wondering, can you see clearly straight after the surgery? or do you have to wait for a while?

And let me add, it was the BEST thing I could have treated myself with. I love not wearing glasses or contacts. I get up in the morning and BAM!…perfect vision!!

  • carol812r:

Although it was quick and painless, I’m glad I saw this video now and not 2 years ago when I had my procedure. OUCH! It looks worse than what it feels!

  • skate080:

OMG DID IT HURT? Why cant they just put you to sleep?

  • mrengtop:

    hi
im 40 years old and i have -2 degree nearsight but i’m still hesitate to do lasik, what can you tell me about that? thx

  • TontonZen:

Anaestetics (i.e. painkiller drops). You feel nothing, almost. In fact you feel when he goes on it with the white sponge pens. But it does not hurt. Just uncomfortable.

  • TontonZen:

Everyone is different. Ask your doctor to make a personalized estimate.

  • xweert111:

its more the having to see it being done i would much prefer being put to sleep while it being done

  • TontonZen:

There are many reasons not to wear contacts. A few of them applied to me.
To name just some examples of what contacts do:
    - they erode the cornea
    - at some point in time anyone no longer can wear them because they hurt
    - over ten year they are more expensive than LASIK
    - cleaning all the time
    - allergies to the cleaning chemicals
    - tiniest dust particles hurts like sand
    - dry eyes in hot weather conditions
    - you can loose them during sports
    - talking sports, swim under water
    - etc…

  • TontonZen:

The dark stuff *IS* the pupil. It is dilated because of drops that, well dilate them. The dilation was needed to measure the wave front guided correction.

  • deviliciousangel235:

Lol, one question, seriously, why didn’t you just get contacts?

  • Realme2007:

Okay, I have a question. Where is your pupil? All I see is dark stuff in your eye, but where is your pupil? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

  • TontonZen:

You get dilating drops so walking out without protection will be tough. You get goggles to prevent you from scratching the eyes by accident in your sleep (you should receive them). To drive back you will need a friend to drive you home.
To solve the “sensitive to light eyes” problem I simply took a nap of a few hours.
At first you see like through a window with fog on. It clears out after a few hours. The same evening I was watching TV without glasses.

  • Kenu:

so when your done with the surgery iyou just walk out? or do they like patch up your eye?

  • TontonZen:

Please read all Q&A above. It is entirely painless. You don’t have to do anything but look at the light. You cannot move your eyelids because of the clamps so blinking is no issue.
If you look around a scanner keeps an eye on your and stops the lasering instantaneously if you move.
But hey, it is not like everybody must do this. It is expensive and has odds for complications so if you don’t feel good about it then DO NOT DO IT!
